Congratulations to the Street Socceroos on their participation in the 2011 Homeless World Cup!
 
On 21-28 August, eight players chosen from Community Street Soccer Programs around the country took part in the 9th annual Homeless World Cup in Champs de Mars, Paris – under the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.
 
The Homeless World Cup is an annual tournament that uses football to raise awareness of homelessness and help participants overcome challenges in their lives. The Australian team, ‘Street Socceroos’ joined 53 other nations, making up 48 teams in The Homeless World Cup, and 16 teams in the Women’s Homeless World Cup. Over 500 players united for the week long tournament.
 
The Street Socceroos were proud to receive the tournament’s Fair Play Award for their display of sportsmanship both on and off the pitch.
 
The team played in thirteen games throughout the tournament, finishing in 37th place with six wins.
