Brisbane Roar FC
On 2 March, 2005, the then-named Queensland Roar FC was incorporated into the Hyandai A League. As one of eight teams in the inaugural A-League season, the club played its first ever match against the New Zealand Knights at Suncorp Stadium on 28 August, 2005, winning 2-0. Since then the club has remained at the forefront of the Hyundai A-League both on and off the pitch.
Following the introduction of two new Queensland teams in 2009, the club changed its name to Brisbane Roar FC.

Brisbane Roar’s Community Interests:
- To act as Brisbane’s football representative in the community – forging links with community, school and other organisations in order to improve and maintain interest in the game and the clubs standing in the community;
- Encourage women, disabled people and people from all ethnic backgrounds to become involved in the game of football; and ultimately
- To be an agent of change in sport, health and the environment in the local community.
When I was growing up I saw a lot of homeless people. Fortunately I wasn't one of them but I had a lot of friends who were.
I'm really happy to be involved with The Big Issue’s Community Street Soccer Program because homelessness is something that is close to my heart.
